The ADAC Rallye Deutschland is relatively new to the WRC (being part of it only since 2002). Though this rally is held exclusively on asphalt roads, it is by no means a dull race. On the contrary, it is full of unexpected thrills for the unwary pilots: From frequent changes in the state of the tarmac to very fast stages; from wide roads that become narrow tracks with dirt on the road surface to vineyard stages or the armour flats with their “Hinkelstones”. Everything is set for an explosive race. It is no surprise, then, that pilots highlight the extreme concentration needed to finish the rally, since the slightest mistake in any given stage may lead to retirement.
Many pilots like this rally, but probably none more so than Sébastien Loeb, the 9 times world champion who, incidentally, has won the ADAC Rallye Deutschland 9 times out of 10 since it is part of the WRC. The fact is, though, that Loeb is no more, at least not in the WRC, and that the coming edition of the ADAC Rally (quite like the rest of the championship) is open to any result. An extra bonus, if you really needed one, for coming to Germany and enjoy this rally!
